About Us

Our Mission

Our Mission at Sanus School Sport is to make the sporting experience as fun but constructive as possible for the participants involved.

To use sport as a tool to enhance a child’s physical activity levels, personal skills, team working skills, behavioural skills and to consolidate their understanding of the benefits of exercise and physical activity.

We aim to achieve this whilst at the same time recognising a child’s ability and encouraging their improvement throughout the program.

We ensure that the following points are implemented during all our programs:

  • Progressive Structured Schemes
  • Health and Safety
  • Child Protection
  • Behaviour Management
  • Coach Continuity
  • A Qualified Coach with full CRB clearance

Services Provided

PPA Cover can be included in the school timetable based on the individual requirements of the school. This could include fun games or curriculum based sports.

  • All fun games will be delivered with the intent to improve both team working skills and physical skill development.
  • The curriculum sports will be delivered on a half term basis. A sport would consist of skill based work and team games.
  • This would be aimed towards years four, five and six. (for years one-three, please see multi-skill section below).

In School Coaching (ISC) can be provided in addition to the current curriculum sports provision already delivered by the school. This is designed to give children a taste of the sport in the hope that they will take up this particular sport outside of school. It is also worth considering that this may be the only contact that a child will have with a particular sport. Subsequently, a child may find that they are skilled or excel in a certain sport, with the hope that the sense of achievement they gain from this will have a knock on effect in their academic work. Again this would be aimed at years four, five and six.

Multi-skill is primarily aimed at years one, two and three. The sessions are designed to provide the foundations and develop the basic fundamental skills a child will need to move forwards and develop in a sporting environment. These sessions focus on hand to eye coordination, body management and agility.

Extra Curricular Clubs are essentially to provide additional sport and physical activity for the children. The clubs can be held before or after the school day and can include any of the sports provided by Sanus School Sport (see below).

Teacher CPD is not designed to “teach teachers how to teach”, but instead to help teachers feel more confident in delivering Physical Education (PE). Through our experience we have found that some teachers are reluctant to deliver  a PE session due to low confidence levels in a particular sport or sport in general. We aim to help teachers with their sport delivery, lesson structure and content. Teachers can also be given support outside of school by means of direct contact with the coach.

Leadership Courses are aimed at year five and six children, designed to provide children with leadership skills. The children will undergo a training course which once completed successfully will enable them to provide activities to younger children. This can be on the playground at break time or lunchtime benefiting the leaders, participants and playground staff. Sanus School Sport will use the ‘ Sports Leaders UK ’ award scheme.
